Right Resources for SAT and ACT Test Prep

Learn How You Can Reach Your SAT/ ACT Potential

Prepping for the SAT and ACT is on the “to do list” of thousands of college bound students. But finding the right resources to help is important and can have a huge impact on the scores and performance of students' taking these tests.

Fortunately there are many free and low-cost ways to help students' reach their SAT / ACT potential.  Here I have put up a list of excellent resources based on my conversation with admission coaches and experts.

1. Kahn Academy: is a free website with thousands of wonderful videos that teach a variety of subjects like SAT math, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance and more. Students can make use of their extensive library of content, including interactive challenges, assessments, and videos from any computer with access to the web.

2. MajorTests.com: offers a free self-study SAT preparation program complete with vocabulary word lists, practice questions for math, writing and critical reading along with an eight-week guided study plan.

3. Number2.com: is a popular free web test prep resource provides students with ACT or SAT questions and tracks their progress. The company was founded by professors and graduate students who wanted to make high quality test preparation universally accessible.

4. The College Board: Students will find links to practice questions and tips for the SAT reading, math and writing sections, as well as a full-length practice test –all for free.

5. FreeMathPracticeTest.com: offers free practice tests for SAT math, critical reading and writing sections. The free SAT practice tests are modeled after the real test.

6. Erikthered.com:  this web site is full of information and resources for learning SAT math and ACT math. Much of the content is in the form of PDF files which are available directly from the sidebar.

7. Internet4classrooms.com: is a free web portal designed to assist anyone who wants to find high-quality, free Internet resources to reinforce specific subject matter areas or take-up online tutorials for SAT/ ACT.

8. Dr. John Chung’s SAT Math 2nd Edition: 50 Perfect Tips and 20 Complete Tests. His SAT Math prep books have earned praise from college-bound students around the U.S. and throughout the world. Dr. Chung’s methods have successfully helped students achieve perfect scores on the SAT and the SAT Subject Tests (Math I and II) enabling them to gain entry to Ivy League caliber schools such as Harvard, MIT, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Princeton, and Stanford.
